Jerusalem, 17-18 December.
The 19th Annual Minerva Conference on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Minerva Center for Human Rights focused on international law aspects of the current escalation of the armed hostilities between Israel and Hamas, which followed from the attack of 7 October 2023. The discussion included an inquiry of applicable jus ad bellum norms, IHL, and the study of the role of international courts and quasi-judicial mechanisms.
The conference took place on 17-18 December 2024, in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem, December 15-16.
The Child and Youth Rights Program at the Minerva Center for Human Rights, housed within the Faculty of Law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, convened an international conference on December 15-16. The conference focused on advancing research and fostering interdisciplinary dialogue regarding the transition from crisis to recovery among children and youth during periods of upheaval and healing.
This seminal event brought together leading academics who presented innovative, child-centered research grounded in the principles of children’s rights. Notably, for the first time, the conference also featured the active participation of children serving as advisors to the program, thereby ensuring a direct and meaningful engagement with the lived experiences of the youth themselves.

ירושלים 5 בספטמבר.
התכנית לזכויות ילדים ונוער במרכז מינרבה לזכויות האדם של האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ומשרד המשפטים (מערך ייצוג קטינים בסיוע המשפטי ומחלקת הנוער בסנגוריה הציבורית), ערכו יום עיון בתאריך 5.9 אשר עסק בייצוג מותאם ורגיש תרבותית של קטינים וקטינות המשתייכים לקבוצות אוכלוסייה ייחודיות, תוך העמקה באתגרים, תובנות וחוויות בייצוג קבוצות שונות.
יום העיון שילב דיון אקדמי עם תובנות מהשטחת וכלל הרצאות קצרות אשר הציגו מן המחקר העדכני בתחום בישראל ובעולם. בחלקו השני נערכו דיונים בסוגיות פרקטיות שעלו מהשטח במתכונת שולחנות עגולים של כלל משתתפי הכנס.

זכויות וצרכים של ילדים בעת מלחמה ומשבר

התכנית לזכויות ילדים ונוער במרכז מינרבה לזכויות האדם של האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ערכה סדנה בתאריכים 29-30.5 אשר התמקדה בזכויותיהם וצרכיהם של ילדים ונוער בישראל בעת הזו.
הסדנה התקיימה במתכונת של שולחן עגול, וכללה דיונים מעמיקים בסוגיות שנבחרו, בהשתתפות אקטיבית של נציגי/ות אקדמיה, ממשלה, וחברה אזרחית.

The 18th Annual Minerva Conference on International Humanitarian Law
Zoom, May 21-22.
The Minerva Center for Human Rights and the Faculty of Law, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, held an online international conference on May 21-22, 2024, on the topic of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Constitutional Law. This was the 18th in the Minerva Center’s Annual Conference Series on International Humanitarian Law.
The conference brought together leading scholars and practitioners in the field from around the globe – led this year by Prof. Emeritus Michael Walzer of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, one of the giants of political theory and moral philosophy of our time, who will present this year’s Conference Keynote Address.

מרכז מינרבה לזכויות האדם בפקולטה למשפטים הזמין את ציבור הסטודנטים למפגש בנושא: פסיקות בג"צ בסוגיות הסבירות והנבצרות ובנושא: התביעה נגד ישראל בבית המשפט הבינלאומי לצדק באשמת רצח עם.
המפגש התקיים ביום ג' 16.1 בשעה 16.00-18.00, באולם 302 בפקולטה למשפטים.
פרופ' ברק מדינה, המנהל האקדמי של מרכז מינרבה לזכויות האדם, ולשעבר דיקן הפקולטה למשפטים ורקטור האוניברסיטה, הציג את פסיקות בג"צ האחרונות בנושאי הסבירות והנבצרות.
פרופ' יעל רונן, העורכת האקדמית של כתב העת Israel Law Review במרכז מינרבה ומומחית למשפט בינלאומי, הציגה את סוגיית הדיון בבית המשפט הבינלאומי לצדק בתביעה נגד ישראל באשמת רצח עם.
