Dr. Rawia Aburabia received her PhD from the Hebrew University as part of Minerva Center's joint interdisciplinary program with Freie Universität Berlin, Human Rights Under Pressure. Her dissertation dealt with the personal status laws of Palestinian Bedouin women in Israel.
In her interview, Rawia explains her choice to fight for Bedouin women’s rights: “As a Bedouin woman who has had all the opportunities and conditions to succeed - in a society where women are mostly expected to get married and have children - I feel a moral obligation to bring the issue to the forefront of the academic stage and to repair the legal transparency that Bedouin women suffer from”.
